BOSTON, MA (5/24/11) -- A group of twelve Israeli Superintendents visited the Office of Family and Student Engagement (OFSE) yesterday to learn what the Boston Public Schools is doing to successfully engage its diverse parent body and to bring some of the positive outreach strategies back to Israel.

Superintendent Dr. Carol Johnson, Deputy Superintendent Michael Goar, and Assistant Superintendent for Family and Student Engagement Michele Brooks joined the OFSE team to give a warm welcome to the Israeli Superintendents. They also provided an overview of BPS, the Acceleration Agenda, and other major initiatives currently undertaken by the District to engage families, including the nationally acclaimed Parent University.

The meeting was organized by OFSE in partnership with the Boston-Haifa Connection (BHC). It was the second exchange program between Boston Public Schools and BHC. The BPS Office of Family and Student Engagement first hosted the BHC visitors in January of 2010.
